Snow still on the passes, rivers running clear, and almost no other travelers — here's why April is our favourite month in Spiti.

Spring in Spiti is a strange and beautiful in-between season.
What the roads look like
Kunzum is usually still closed, but the road from Shimla via Reckong Peo is open and gloriously empty.
What to pack
- A warm sleeping bag rated to -5°C
- Sunscreen — high-altitude UV is brutal
- Layers you can shed
